We're creating our own future. So are you.
At Volvo Cars, we have bold targets when it comes to innovation, sales and customer experience, and we’re developing new technologies to lead in safety, autonomous driving and electrification. If you want to grow together with talented people who are creating a new automotive future, we have a job for you.Job description:
What do we offer?
Volvo Cars excels by the people who work here, and the ideas they bring. We are on a very exciting journey re-shaping how we deliver digital capabilities through a true agile transformation with a product-oriented approach at scale. A key success factor in this journey is to be able to attract, nurture and enable digital talent to prosper. At Volvo Cars the skills and careers for our people will be done in communities where like-minded individuals will grow together in chapters – enabled by strong and supporting leaders who help them succeed.
A key chapter at Enterprise Digital is the Engineering chapter. Within the chapter we will enable our engineers to build T-shaped profiles and become full-stack engineers pushing towards DevOps-practices with competencies around all aspects of software engineering. The chapter will encompass a wide range of competencies for all technology areas we use and operate at Volvo Cars so the room for evolution and growth are almost limitless.
What’s in it for you?
As a Chapter Manager in the Volvo Cars Enterprise Digital Engineering Chapter, you’ll be part of a team driving the daily work of building a home for our engineers – fostering and developing people’s skills and expertise required for deliveries within our product areas, and cross-pollinating knowledge and expertise across teams.
The challenges will encompass helping people with a background in traditional ways-of-working understand and use new delivery methodology as well as embracing an agile mindset. We also need to recruit and onboard people with expertise needed to infuse our current teams with new skill sets for our continuous journey towards excellence.
At Volvo Cars we are introducing agile ways of working in almost all parts of the organization, using the methods and tools needed. As a Chapter Manager you are not directly involved in the work in our product areas and teams, but you will coach and help people and teams understand and use agile methods which is vital for our success.
If you are an agile leader with deep technical understanding who thrives when others are successful you are the leader we are looking for. You will come into an environment where you will be able to shape the future of Enterprise Digital and the opportunities for yourself to develop will be many.
What you’ll do
You will be working to make sure the people in your team are taken care of, be it skills & training, career development or personal challenges. Make sure that knowledge is managed and shared through the team and the organization, through documentation, meet-ups, Communities of Practice or similar. You will ensure external visibility of Volvo Cars at conferences and other events to share and spread our thinking, methods and technology.
Understand and jointly drive our strategic competence roadmap by managing the recruitment process, both for employees and consultants. Facilitate decision making around specific technical solutions tied to your area, encourage and facilitate the implementation of practices shared across the organization. Understand and enable the use of relevant methodologies, processes and tools need for the people in the chapter and used in our teams. You will live and breathe dynamic leadership working with others throughout the organization's role-modeling innovation, entrepreneurial spirit, and a growth mindset. Nurture our “we culture” in your area and across Volvo Cars.
You and your skills
You have a very collaborative and open approach to all challenges and an inherent drive taking personal accountability but yet the ability to share and make your work transparent. You are passionate about creating environments where people thrive and have experience doing so. You care deeply about software engineering craftsmanship with a DevOps mindset throughout a products lifecycle and spreading it across the organization. Have solid experience leading, mentoring people and seeing opportunities for learning everywhere – for yourself and others. We see that you are knowledgeable about and have experience in Agile principles and practices as well as adopting DevOps. You also have at least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field within business or technology.
