CAE engineer – Durability

Craftsmanship & Durability Centre, is responsible for the attributes Perceived Quality, Solidity, Strength & Endurance, Mechanical Theft Protection, Corrosion, Retained Newness and Robustness to Fire. The responsibility includes target settings, CAE analysis and testing in laboratory. We perform component and system testing in related areas of mechanical and material testing & chemical analysis.
What’s in it for you?
Strength & Endurance Centre is a section within the department Craftsmanship & Durability and is responsible for the requirement setting and ensuring the two attributes Strength & Endurance and Mechanical Theft Protection. As a competence centre we provide engineering and projects with technical recommendations and requirements. We also perform analysis and verification, both virtually and physically, from concept phase to maintenance and running production at complete vehicle, system and component level.
At CAE Durability we focus on customer benefit and strive for cross-functional co-operation. We work close to the engineering department to agree on prioritization and ensure that the recommendations based on our CAE analyses is utilized in the best way. We are curious on all aspects in the product development and constantly develop our skill to provide feasible suggestions for improved design. New materials for lighter vehicles and circular economies, together with more focus on verification in early project phases, are drivers for method development.
What you’ll do
You will perform CAE analyses related to strength, fatigue and temperature creep loads by use of Finite Elements and support design engineers with recommendations. You will also work with method development in order to develop and adapt our virtual verification strategy for next generation cars. After a while you will probably take on the role as team leader with responsibility of work planning and task prioritization together with the team and group manager.
Do you fit the profile?
- Master of Science in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Good knowledge in mechanics and strength of materials corresponding to master level courses
- Minimum 5 years of experience of FE simulations in softwares ANSA/Metapost, MSC Nastran, Abaqus and/or LS Dyna
- Experience of car body CAE is meritorious
- Team leading skills
- Fluent in English, written and spoken and Knowledge in Swedish is meritorious
