An essential role within Strategy and Innovation
As a central competence at R&D, to enable Volvo Cars digital transformation towards a Knowledge-driven agile organization, the Product Knowledge Management team is R&D’s reference when it comes to developing state-of-the-art solutions to turn Data into Knowledge. Our team specifies, develops and leads the deployment of advanced solutions to enable Volvo Cars Research & Development globally to efficiently manage their product-related knowledge. The team has a broad expertize within the fields of Database Architecture, Knowledge Graphs, Web Application Development, System Engineering, System Design Processes, Data-Mining and Machine Learning. As a Back-End Developer you will be responsible for designing and developing the server side of our End-User web applications for the various Product Knowledge Management (PKM) platforms deployed by the team. You will also develop interfaces between those platforms and the many different data management systems in use at Volvo Cars today (System Weaver, Elektra, Team Center, Jira, etc.) through their respective APIs. Your solutions will allow secure connection to and administration of the different databases in play while maintaining functional and stable web applications. Your work will be used and appreciated by many parts of the organisation and will play a major role in the development of new products.
On a daily basis, you will discuss with both End-Users and the Product Knowledge Management team to define the specifications for each application. You will suggest technology solutions and develop, deploy and maintain applications. In this role we expect you to collaborate professionally with Front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server side logic and evaluate end-user experience and suggest improvements. You will write documentation as well as provide training and support to internal teams. Obviously you are good at building reusable code and libraries for future use and follow emerging technologies. Since we are a global organisation, you will speak and write in English on a daily basis so being fluent in the language is a requirement. All other language skills, especially Swedish, are considered a merit.
- MSc or BSc within Computer Science
- Validated previous professional experience in Web Application development
- Hands on experience with programming languages like Java, C++, PHP and Python
- Good understanding of NodeJS and Angular framework
- In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development and deployment)
